Ralf Sutton Obituary

Ralf Sutton, father, son, friend, lover of nature and all of its creatures, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 surrounded by his family. For those who knew Ralf, it was fitting that he went to be with God on April Fool’s Day. Ralf was born in Bremerhaven, Germany and moved to the United States as a young boy. He spent time in Missouri and Kansas before moving with his dad, Edwin Sutton, to California. Ralf enjoyed camping in the San Bernardino Mountains, riding dirtbikes across the desert, listening to classic rock (especially Led Zeppelin), and being a father to his two daughters. Ralf worked for GTE for 34 years and could drive through any neighborhood within a hundred miles and point out all of the phone lines he installed. Ralf appreciated his GTE family, took pride in his work, and was a loyal friend to many. Outside of his work, Ralf loved his beloved animals both wild and domesticated. Ralf was famous for setting up handwashing and food stations for the raccoons, skunks, bobcats, and occasional mountain lion that passed through his yard. Ralf’s legacy lives on through his daughters, Alisha Sutton (Jennifer Shearin) and Tara Phillips, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by many cousins in Missouri. Ralf was a simple man who marched to the beat of his own drum. He had a disarming sense of humor that endeared all who knew him. His physical comedy was especially hilarious. Ralf is now riding dirtbikes in the clouds and passing through in the whispers of the mountain pines. Ralf will be deeply missed, and his spirit will never be too far from a mountain.
