Mary Elizabeth Evans Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Evans, from San Bernardino, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024 at the age of 72.Mary was born on July 11, 1951 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Theodore and Theodora (Dodie) Claunch. Mary was number seven of nine kids, with four brothers and four sisters. After moving to California as a young child, she lived most of her adult life in or around San Bernardino, where she started her own family. In 1970 she welcomed twin daughters Shawna Marie and Vivian Lee, and in 1974 she welcomed son Kevin James.Mary loved being called Mom but loved being called Grandma even more. She was an animal lover, especially cats, and she liked being called a pet parent. It made her laugh. She will truly be missed as a grandmother, mother, sister, and friend.Mary leaves behind Vivian Miller, Shawna and Carey Ziino, Kevin Morton and Amanda Alexander, and grandchildren Nick and Rachel Ziino, Nathan Ziino and Clara and Simon Alexander-Morton. She also left behind sisters Ruth Ann, Janie, Theda, and Donna, and brothers Emmett and Michael. Two brothers, Bobby and Larry preceded her in death.Also preceding her in death is Mary’s husband Phil, who passed in 2004, who has most certainly been patiently awaiting their reunion. May you both rest in peace.Funeral service will be held Friday, April 5th at Montecito Memorial at 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda CA, in the Cypress Chapel at noon, with a reception from 1-3pm at the Cypress Reception room.
