An Oceanside man was struck and killed by a vehicle during a robbery in Fontana last week, with two men later arrested in Banning, authorities said.

Around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 41-year-old Jeremy Ruffin was found severely injured in the parking lot of a Goodwill, at 14405 Baseline Avenue, according to the Fontana Police Department. Ruffin was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The investigation found that Ruffin had been the victim of a robbery by two Fontana residents. The suspects were not armed during the robbery, said Fontana Police Sgt. Nathan Weiske.

While fleeing, the suspects struck Ruffin with their vehicle, police said.

Hiram Brinson, 45, and Rudy Caress, 38, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of the homicide.
